When I started out in the fledgling home computer industry back in 1998 in New Zealand I believed from the outset that providing patient assistance to potential customers would reap benefits – and it did. Customers that contacted me initially for help with small problems (often provided free) usually came back for an upgrade and often a replacement computer a few years later. Customers that I had in my first year were still returning for assistance six years later when I sold the business as a going concern and moved to Australia.
